Release Note: September 2025 Update

September 30, 2025

Summer blurred into fall, and the past few months were about turning heqinghuang.com into a proper playground for personal analytics and storytelling. The headline is a brand-new Wealth Quiz experience, backed by a results dashboard that makes it easy to see growth over time. I also published new essays on analytics, leadership, and grief—each one helped me process a different part of life this year.

New Features

  1. Wealth Quiz Launch (#56)

    • Introduced /wealth-quiz, a guided five-part reflection that covers time, social, mental, physical, and financial wealth
    • Added progress tracking, a clarified 1–5 rating scale, optional journaling, and guardrails so results only save when all five sections are complete
    • Results now persist in Vercel Postgres with category-level scoring, making it easy to compare sessions across time
  2. Results Dashboard & Reminders (#56)

    • Built /wealth-quiz/results with radar charts, per-category line charts, and session notes so you can visualize compounding habits instantly
    • Added dynamic API routes, Suspense-based loading states, and smarter empty states to keep the dashboard resilient even when results are still processing (#58)
    • You can now subscribe to monthly reminders right from the dashboard, making it easier to keep the reflection habit alive

Improvements & Fixes

  1. Sharper Quiz Copy (#57)

    • Rewrote every quiz question to sound more like the coaching prompts I use in real life
    • Renamed "Mental Wealth" to "Mental Health" and tightened the rating legend so the scoring model feels consistent end-to-end
  2. More Reliable Data Fetching (#58)

    • Forced the quiz API routes to be dynamic so they always read the latest submissions
    • Filtered empty session notes before rendering, fixing a null edge case that previously crashed the results page
  3. Markdown Polish (#59)

    • Styled blockquotes globally, which makes new essays easier to scan and gives the analytics agent playbook the emphasis it deserves

New Writing

  • Training Analytics Agents Like New Hires (#59) — A full onboarding playbook for analytics copilots: clarify the data model, give business context, structure the prompt, and coach tone along the way
  • Grief - Part 2 (#54) — Two years after losing my dad, I revisited the grief series to talk about bargaining, acceptance, and how my family is rebuilding
  • 4 Lessons from Scale (#52) — A four-year retrospective on what Scale AI taught me about hypergrowth, hard work, zooming out, and leading with principles
  • Sleep Is a Game (refresh) — Updated copy throughout the sleep essay to make the science-backed tactics sharper and easier to follow

The past quarter felt like building a product alongside the writing. The Wealth Quiz is still a living experiment, so if you try it, send me feedback—and expect more nerdy analytics features soon.
